POST GRADUATE DIPLOMA IN BANKING

(January - June 2017)

Introduction

Since the start of financial reforms in 1991, Indian Banking sector has been witnessing accelerated growth. Existing Banks are expanding their branch network and product range. With the initiatives, like financial Inclusion and decision to allow new Banks in private sector by government and RBI, banking sector is poised for healthy growth. Therefore, to facilitate the growth, the banking industry needs steady supply of well educated manpower. With an objective of imparting operational knowledge in banking to participants, AMA has designed this Diploma Program.

Pedagogy

Faculty will use participative methods of teaching which will include lectures, project work, assignments and presentations.

Medium of Instruction : English

Duration & timing : Six months (Monday to Wed – 8.00 to 9.30 am)

Admission Criteria & Procedure

Candidates will be interviewed at the time of submission of Application. Application must accompany copies of Degree Certificate, final year degree mark sheet and 2 photographs. Selected candidates must ensure payment of fees within the stipulated time. Participants are required to sign an undertaking at the time of paying the fees. It is advised that they must read all the details given in the undertaking before signing and paying their fees.

Upon admission, each participant will be issued identity card stating the Program title and validity of the I-card. Participants are advised to keep the I-cards during their sessions and presence in AMA campus.

The I-cards will also help participants as an introduction during the project assignments/ visits to companies and meeting with various corporate executives.

Evaluation

Participants will be evaluated on the basis of performance in written tests, project work and behavioural components, including attendance.

It is mandatory that a participant obtains a minimum overall attendance of 80 per cent. Names of students whose over all attendance falls below 50 per cent of the total sessions held will be deleted from the roll.

Award of Diploma

• Participants attended minimum 80 per cent of the total sessions held and obtaining overall 45 per cent marks (must obtain minimum 40% in examinations & assignments i.e. 24 marks out of 60) will be awarded Post Graduate Diploma in Banking.

The break-up of various components of evaluation is given below:

Fees

Total fee payable is Rs.20,000 (including Service Tax). Under no circumstances the fees paid will be refunded.

Faculty

A team of Expert faculty with relevant experience in the banking sector will conduct the Programme.

Library

AMA Library has a collection of 27,000 books, 300 magazines on various subjects on management and nearly 20,000 indexed articles from the magazines. AMA Library collection also includes 600 CDs. AMA subscribes to 23 newspapers and maintains newspaper clippings on 250 subjects.

Diploma participants can avail the library facility free of cost. A Caution Deposit of Rs.500 (refundable after completion of the Programme) has to be paid by participants who wish to borrow books from the Library. On receipt of deposit, Library Card will be issued. Two books will be issued for one month. The Library will be open between10.00 am to 8.00 pm on all working days and between 10.00 am and 2.00 pm on Sundays.
